Newsletter
Welcome !
Our first post-lockdown newsletter !

After all that we’ve been through in the past couple of years we feel privileged to still be here . That is, in no small part, down to all of you and we wanted to thank you for your continued support.

That got us thinking about our journey so far and we wanted to look back on how we got here and where we’d like to be. So put the kettle on, make a brew and read on …

Better Late Than Never !
The easing of lockdown rules has been good news for us all,
but it was especially good news for two local groups as they
were able to come to us for classes booked before lockdown !
Saddleworth WI
The Ladies of Saddleworth WI were finally able to get their hands on
the dough when they came to us for a bread-making class !
The WI's Pam Armstrong said :
Saddleworth WI’s long-awaited bread making session finally occurred in September and Pam and her team did us proud!
After a lot of laughs, we left clutching bundles of muffins, French sticks, bread rolls and Chelsea buns, plus recipes and had fun along the way!
Can’t wait for our next cookery night, thank you all.
Boothroyd Primary Academy
They say 'patience is a virtue' and that's what the staff of Boothroyd Primary Academy
showed while waiting for the chance to come in for their team bonding class !

A wonderful way to end the half term - a team building cookery school session booked two years ago but we got there in the end !

Pam was amazing
and cheered up a very weary team .
Thanks To Brooks And Brooks
We are grateful to Brooks & Brooks Recruitment for their generous donation of £500 to help us to continue to help vulnerable children in Oldham
Director Simon Parrish told us :
My eldest sons enjoy attending Saddleworth Cookery School in Diggle, which is a great way to meet new friends and develop vital life skills.
We hope the donation from Brooks and Brooks will encourage vulnerable children to attend the cookery school .
Pam Jones added :
At Saddleworth Cookery School we have always tried to help vulnerable and disadvantaged children from Oldham and the surrounding areas .
This generous donation from Brooks and Brooks supports us in continuing to help these children.

Pay It Forward:
The kind donation from Brooks & Brooks Recruitment has already enabled us to ‘Pay It Forward’
.. repaying their act of kindness by doing something good for someone else .
So far, two children who would not ordinarily have been able to attend our half term classes enjoyed a day full of fun and learning whilst building their self-confidence.

We’re always looking for more ways to Pay It Forward , so if you know of any individual or group who might benefit, or if you want to get involved please get in touch .

Worth A Mention
We love a challenge and recently had couple to get our teeth into ...
Give Us This Day

We were contacted by a local church who had found us through a Google search for ‘Artisan Bakers' .

We were honoured to be asked by St George’s Church, Stalybridge to prepare a Harvest wheat-sheaf loaf to feature in their Harvest Festival display .
It was great to be able to bake something so unique.

Always up for a challenge!!
De Clercq Muffins
Some of you may have seen that we’re working on our own homage to the original DeClercq muffins.

We’ve had some great input from people who remember buying them from Tommyfield market back in the 80’s, and even those who knew the DeClercq family.

Although we got pretty close to respecting the original in terms of look, colour and taste we’ve struggled to find authentic images to make a proper comparison.

If anyone can help or give feedback we’d really appreciate it.

and then made some
spooky gingerbread
houses.

Thanks to everyone who
came. We hope you had
as much fun as we did .....
